New York Police Department (NYPD) officers respond to an active shooter incident in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York. The suspected shooter is seen entering the Manhattan building with a rifle.
A gunman armed with an assault rifle shot an NYPD officer inside a Park Avenue building in Midtown Manhattan that houses Blackstone and the NFL headquarters.
At least four people, including an NYPD officer, were killed after a gunman stormed a Midtown Manhattan skyscraper and opened fire,
the suspect then turned the the gun on himself and found dead from a gun-inflicted gunshot wound on the 33rd floor.
The building on 345 Park Avenue reportedly houses Blackstone and NFL HQ.
A photo going viral on social media shows the alleged shooter entering the building holding an automatic weapon and wearing a bulletproof vest.
A witness told NY Post that “it sounded like a barrage of shots …Like an automatic weapon. Like a high-capacity weapon.”
The injured police officer is reportedly in critical condition. Two civilians were also shot, one of whom is in critical condition as well.
ORIGINAL STORY: A police officer was reportedly shot by a suspect armed with an assault rifle in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, on Monday. According to the X account Viral News NYC, the incident is unfolding at Blackstone building on Park Avenue between East 51st and East 52nd Streets. NYPD has locked down the area and issued a shelter-in-place order.
Journalist Oliya Scootercaster also reported from the scene, posting on X, “Active shooter situation on Park Ave near E 52nd St in Manhattan. One man confirmed shot, possibly with an AR-15. About 100 people reportedly hiding from the gunman. Massive NYPD response.”
The NYPD confirmed an incident in the area but did not verify whether it was an active shooter situation.
“Due to police activity, please avoid the vicinity of East 52 Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue. Expect emergency vehicles & delays in the surrounding area,” NYPD posted on X.
Videos shared on social media show people fleeing a building as the reports emerged. Multiple NYPD vehicles are visible in the area.
